Chartered Manager is the highest status that can be achieved in the management profession. Awarded only by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), thousands of UK managers at all levels and across all sectors now hold Chartered Manager Professional Status. Chartered Manager is a Professional recognition award and not a qualification.

Course Overview

Chartered Manager assessment is delivered through one to one support and workshops.  It can be completed over a few weeks or shorter if required dependent upon candidate need.  There are two routes for submission open to candidates which are detailed below:

Exemption Route

The exemption route is for experienced managers who already hold a CMI Level 5 or above Diploma in Management & Leadership (no equivalencies, CMI qualifications only accepted).  You will need to meet the following criteria to be considered for exemption route:

  • Minimum of 3 years management experience
  • CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management & Leadership or above
  • The exemption upgrade builds upon the knowledge and expertise demonstrated through completion of your qualification
  • Assessment is undertaken by completion of a written submission, detailing the learning gained, the improvement in your management practice and the positive, measurable contribution you have made to your organisation. Upon approval of your written submission you will be awarded Chartered Member (CMgr MCMI) or Chartered Fellow (CMgr FCMI) dependent on experience.

Qualified Route

The qualified route is available to managers who already hold a degree-level management qualification, or have a minimum of 5 years' management experience.  You will need to meet the following criteria to be considered for the qualified route:

  • Degree level qualification in Management & Leadership with 3 years management experience

OR alternatively,

  • 5 years’ management experience (no formal qualification required)

Assessment is undertaken either by written submission and professional discussion demonstrating consistent and effective performance in the past 18 months.  Upon successful completion you will be awarded Chartered Member (CMgr MCMI) or Chartered Fellow (FCMI) dependent on experience

In order to be considered for Chartered manager you will need to demonstrate you are in a leadership role and meet the entry requirements.

 

 Chartered Manager is ideal for those who are seeking to professionalise their management and leadership experience.
