This qualification is suitable for learners who wish to work or are working in a supervised role in children’s care, learning and development in Northern Ireland.

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve all 8 mandatory units.

  • Theme 4 (K/617/6523) Support Children's Personal Care and Nutrition
  • Theme 5 (F/617/6527) Supporting Children's Development
  • Theme 6 (J/617/6528) Support Children's Play, Learning and Development
  • Theme 7 (L/617/6529) Contribute to the Support of Children With Disabilities and/or Special Needs
  • Theme 8 (F/617/6530)

Learners could progress to the following job roles:

  • pre-school assistants
  • nursery assistants
  • creche assistants
  • out of school childcare worker.

You will study a variety of topics such as child development and play which will equip you to work in an early year's setting.

Learners will spend 2 days a week on placement in daycare or nursery schools.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to the Level 3 Diploma for Children’s Care Learning and Development (Wales and Northern Ireland).

4 GCSEs at Grade D --G or above (Diploma), students to hold a D grade or above in both Maths and English for the diploma.

4 GCSE’s including either maths or English at D grade to be offered cert.

Applicants that have not obtained the above grades may be eligible to enrol as an Introductory Trainee. Please contact us for further information.
