Course Overview

Year 1 - Focus will be on Essential Skills Literacy, Numeracy and ICT, Employability, Personal Development, Award in Vocational Skills and The Duke of Edinburgh/Joint/Gaisce Award.

Year 2/3 - Choose a vocational area from Retail, Hospitality Services, Construction Studies, Creative or a broad based programme; along with Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, The Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Vocational options vary depending on campus and student numbers.

Include a range of Employability and Personal Development units, for example;

  • Keeping Safe
  • Planning for Progression
  • Managing Personal Finance

OCN NI Level 1 Award in Vocational Skills

Modules may include depending on year and vocational choice;

  • Practical Craft Skills
  • Customer Services
  • Painting and Decorating

Things did not go as expected at school and you want to get back on track. 

Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, as well as a range of vocationally based units. This programme enables you to develop educational and employment knowledge along with valuable skills required for employment or further education. 

 

Getting the opportunity to work towards your Duke of Edinburgh Award/Gaisce/Joint Award.

Depending on results you may be able to progress to a Level 2 programme at the end of the first year (result dependent), or at the end of your second or third year depending on the training credit length. 

 

No formal qualifications or have not attained a GCSE grade F to D or equivalent in Literacy or Mathematics, which is preventing you from enrolling onto the Level 2 course of your choice.
