Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Kathleen Cassidy and Julie Leckey encourage signing up for part time study at SERC

South Eastern Regional College’s (SERC) part-time courses have a new session of programmes commencing from February 2022. They have been created to help you transform your future by upskilling your strengths, improving your CV and learning in a flexible format which fits around your life.

Ken Webb, Principal and Chief Executive of SERC said, “Every year, we hear amazing real-life stories from our students on how their return to education has transformed their lives. The first step is realising that you can do whatever you put your mind to, and we at SERC are here to give you the support you need in order to do that.”

SERC offers a variety of courses for you to study; you can restart your education with Restart Lite, designed to get you back into education; or pursue a further education course to get the skills and knowledge necessary to get back into employment, retrain or climb the job ladder. Gain recognition for your existing skills or acquire new skills and knowledge from Level 2 Award in Interior Design to Level 3 Award in Working with Children and Young People with Special Need, from a Certificate in Fitness Instruction to an Award in Tour Guiding,  from Introduction to Games Development to Irish, French, Spanish or Italian at a range of levels, to English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) through to a range of  higher education courses; if you want, you can upskill on one of our many courses for business and industry, from Level 3 in Payroll for Business or a professionally recognised course such as CMI Chartered Manager.

Kathleen Cassidy, from Holywood, a part- time student on the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling said, “This is the first course I have undertaken since my degree.   As a parent  returning to study has been confidence boosting and there is plenty of support through the College for continuing my studies if needed. It’s never too late to return to study.”

Fellow student, Julie Lecky, from Newtownards said, “I am a bit of a serial part-time learner and have completed several courses through SERC including word processing, an Access course and now the Counselling Diploma.  I did Level 2 in ICT which my 80-year-old father came along to do with me.  It’s never too late to start learning something, even if it is just for your own interest.”

At SERC you are also able to study just for fun on a range of leisure hobby courses, including leisure ceramics, life drawing, photography, holiday languages and bread baking. There is something for everyone at SERC.

Applications for all part-time courses commencing this term are open at www.serc.ac.uk.  Apply online and your place on the course is secure once payment is received, and enrolment is complete.

SERC’s Careers team are also available via phone, skype or email to talk about programmes and the support mechanisms which SERC can offer to help overcome any barriers to education that people may face. Contact careers@serc.ac.uk
