South Eastern Regional College (SERC) Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) candidates attended a PGCE Further Education Employability Showcase recently at Ulster University.

SERC staff have the opportunity to complete the Ulster University PGCE programme and become candidates on it with funding and mentoring support provided through the SERC Learning Academy.

The showcase attended by the SERC candidates celebrated the work of this year's PGCE candidates through displaying their diverse range of high-quality employability projects. Speakers on the day included Dr Aideen Hunter, Senior Lecturer at Ulster University, who opened the event and Dr Angela Dynes, Lecturer of Education at Ulster University, who outlined the importance of teaching sustainability across all education institutions and curriculum areas.

Diane Weatherup from the Learning Academy commented, "Congratulations to all SERC staff who exhibited their employability projects at the Ulster University event. It was a pleasure to see the innovative ways our staff had integrated employability skills for their students into their curriculum. The Learning Academy is proud to be investing in staff development and supporting our candidates to improve their teaching practice while gaining a valuable Postgraduate Certificate in Education.”
