Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

Today, 9th May is the first day of Mental Health Awareness Week and SERC have many activities across all four main campuses and virtually for you to get involved in.

Walk & Talk – Let’s Connect

The theme of Mental Health Awareness Week this year is loneliness and so you are encouraged this week to make meaningful connections with family, friends and colleagues.

We will be having a 30-minute Walk & Talk on each campus today, which will give you a chance to get some fresh air, get some steps in and have a chat with others! All you need to do is meet in the reception area and wear comfy shoes.

  • Downpatrick – 12pm
  • Lisburn – 12pm
  • Ards – 12pm
  • Bangor – 1pm

Inspire Wellbeing

Inspire Wellbeing offer confidential counselling services to SERC staff and students, and are available 24/7. There will be an information stand in the Lisburn Campus today from 10am-12pm.  Students Union and Mind Yourself staff will also be present so it is great opportunity to find out about the services and support we can offer.

There will also be two 30-minute online sessions with Inspire Wellbeing on:

  • Tuesday 10th May – 2pm-2:30pm
  • Wednesday 11th May -10am-10:30am

If you would like to attend any of these sessions email mindyourself@serc.ac.uk  or studentsunion@serc.ac.uk

5k a Day

May is officially National Walking Month, so we are encouraging staff and students to take part in our walking challenge ‘5k a day’ which will run from until 22nd May.

Exercise has many positive impacts on your physical and mental health, so why not leave the car at home, get outside, get your steps in, and get fit! We have an MS Teams page to log your steps each day, if you would like to register for the challenge email mindyourself@serc.ac.uk  or studentsunion@serc.ac.uk

There will be a goodie bag for those who get the most steps over the two weeks!
