Jamie Carson (18) from Bangor enrolled at SERC after completing his GCSEs at Bangor Academy. Jamie, who studies the Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT at the Bangor campus talks about his time at SERC and his goals and aspirations.
Speaking about his decision to come to SERC Jamie said “There was a lot of factors that played a part and impacted on my decision to enrol at SERC, the main one was speaking with a tutor at the open day. This, along with researching the course on the SERC website meant that I felt I had all the important information I needed about the course.”
Jamie also spoke about some of his favourite aspects of the course. “I really enjoyed the topics and modules we covered throughout the 2 years. It was also great to have the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. The support I got throughout my time on the course was brilliant; I rate the course very highly.”
He added, “I would highly recommend SERC to anyone thinking of coming to the College especially if they’re willing to work hard and stay dedicated. The support you get from the lecturers is incredible. The learning support is also highly effective and greatly beneficial.”
Jamie aspires to a role in the IT industry and SERC plays a very important role in his career path. He said, “Upon completion of my current course, I hope to progress to higher education and plan to apply for the Ulster University Foundation Degree in Computing course on offer at SERC which I hope will increase my knowledge and understanding before taking my next steps.”
