As staff and students prepare for a new term at SERC, the College is urging anyone coming onto campus to use a lateral flow test kit (available for collection on site) to test for Covid-19.
With a return to on-campus learning, it is vital to work hard to keep everyone safe and healthy, and anyone experiencing Covid-19 symptoms or receiving a positive test result must stay at home to avoid infecting others. Since some people can carry the virus without feeling ill or displaying any symptoms, a lateral flow test will help identify who might be infectious without knowing it.
SERC Principal and CEO Ken Webb comments, “Following guidance from the Executive, SERC will be welcoming students back to face-to-face teaching from September, which is a terrific step forward on the path back from the pandemic. As we prepare to return to campus, we would like to encourage students to use lateral flow tests to check they are Covid-19 free before they come onto campuses. These kits are for self-testing and give results in about 30 minutes."
“We would also remind learners that face masks and social distancing will still be required to help protect everyone coming onto college grounds.”
Staff and students can collect lateral flow test kits from the reception areas at Lisburn and Downpatrick campuses, at the LRC on Newtownards campus and at Bangor campus beside the canteen on the ground floor.
Taking a lateral flow test is voluntary but, by getting tested, you can help your community, families and friends stay safe and slow down the spread of coronavirus. It is particularly important that anyone with a positive test result or with Covid symptoms stays at home. Stopping coronavirus from spreading also means that the College is able to continue to deliver face-to-face learning without disruption.
