The SERC Intercampus Skillbuild Competition took place in Lisburn Campus on Thursday 30 January. Certificates were presented by Heather McKee, Deputy Principal, SERC, along with thousands of pounds' worth of prizes kindly donated by several trade areas.
The contest for the Fire and Security title was fierce, as competitors tested their skills through tasks including installing fire detection circuits, identifying devices needed for a specified detection and alarm system and developing a wiring diagram for installing and connecting a communication device.
Tutor Robin Hamill commented, “All work was completed to a very high standard, demonstrating the apprentices’ knowledge, understanding and skills. The competition was so close that we could not separate two of the apprentices, who were joint second.”
Anyone interested in finding out more about qualifications and careers in this exciting growth industry should come along to a Fire and Security Careers Day on Thursday 13 February 2025, 1.30-4.30pm at SERC's Lisburn Campus.
