SERC is kicking off a series of online training sessions for teachers/lecturers in the FE sector. These training sessions have been developed by the six FE Colleges in NI working in collaboration to support teaching staff in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak and the transition to remote teaching and learning.

A new comprehensive online programme has been launched to help ensure staff are trained on a range of e-learning platforms and are supported to develop the skills required for online teaching and content development.

The e-learning training programme comprises of a blend of self-study resources and live sessions covering a range of technical and pedagogical skills and e-learning platforms.

The first live session, hosted by SERC, runs on Friday 26 March from 1-2 pm.  The session is entitled “7 Tips for Increasing Student Engagement in Online Courses”, and will empower teachers to engage students in new ways, and to adapt learning to the online environment, by enabling them to create asynchronous and synchronous learning sessions which are engaging and student-centred, and which account for individual needs.

Each session will require approximately 30 minutes to complete, and you will need access to a speaker or headphones to hear the content, although closed captions or subtitles are also available.

You can find more information on the sessions and how each links to the competencies in the training brochure.

If you wish to find out more about the training sessions or if you’d like further support, please don’t hesitate to contact learningacademy@serc.ac.uk
