Course Overview

This apprenticeship offers a strong foundation for a wide range of career paths within the heavy vehicle maintenance and repair sector.

This 2 year course offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge in a high-demand industry.  The teaching is a mixture of practical and theory based learning

You will spend an average of 7 hours per week in college, with the remainder of your time being spent with your employer.

You will need:

  • an employer AND
  • a Level 2 qualification in Motor Vehicle

Modules studied may include:
• Engine repair
• Transmission repair
• Vehicle electrical repair
• Chassis components repair
• Health and safety
 

After completing the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (Heavy Vehicle), there are several exciting progression opportunities:

  • Advanced technician - you can move up to a senior role such as an Advanced Technician, taking on more complex diagnostics, repairs, and leadership responsibilities in the workshop
  • Specialized roles - specialize in areas such as electronics, hydraulics, or diagnostic systems for heavy vehicles, becoming an expert in a specific field
  • Workshop supervisor/manager - with further experience, you could step into a supervisory or management role, overseeing a team of technicians and ensuring the smooth running of a service facility
