Why Study This Course

This course is for you if you are employed and wish to pursue a career in Fabrication and Welding Engineering.

You will use industry standard machinery to develop your practical skills as well as learning about a range of welding and fabrication processes. Students will learn on and off the job, benefiting from hands-on experience and theoretical learning.

Course Overview

This course aims to develop practical skills and knowledge which are essential for working in the engineering industry.

Students will attend college for 1 day per week, spending the remainder of the week with their employer.

Successful completion will lead to the award of a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Engineering and an ETCAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering.

You will need:

  • to be employed within the sector and to have successfully completed EITHER a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Manufacturing Engineering or Fabrication and Welding OR a Level 2 Traineeship in Engineering

  • Engineering Principles
  • MIG Welding of Materials
  • Engineering Health & Safety
  • Principles of Fabrication & Welding
  • TIG Welding of Materials
  • Platework Fabrication of Materials

Successful completion can lead to further study at Level 4 or Level 5.
