This traineeship is ideal for someone who has recently left school and obtained their GCSEs, and wanting to learn and to develop skills to pursue a career in the heavy motor vehicle industry.

The Traineeship programme will allow participants to achieve a full Level 2 qualification and will comprise the following key elements within the Direct Entry Traineeship or Introductory Traineeship:
The course will be delivered on campus 22 hours per week and will consist of:
- a professional & technical qualification equivalent to a minimum of 3 GCSEs grade C
- a Transversal Skills qualification
- Level 2 Essential Skills in numeracy and literacy or GCSE Grades A*-C in English and Maths
- Work Based Learning
- a 2-week induction
- professional & technical skills development
- an end-point assessment
- a vocational placement (curriculum to confirm duration) organised by the College
You will need:
- 4 GCSEs grade D-G, including grade 'D' in Maths and grade 'E' in English or equivalent
Applicants that have not obtained the above grades but can demonstrate an equivalent level of experiential learning may also undertake a NI Traineeship through Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL). Suitability will also be determined following an assessment of your current level of literacy and numeracy.
If you have not obtained the stated entry grades for Maths & English, but your assessment determines that you have the potential to achieve a Level 2 Essential Skill in numeracy and/or literacy over the duration of the NI Traineeship, you may be enrolled as an ‘Introductory’ Trainee, following the same programme as those of the Full NI Traineeship except for Essential Skills.
