Level 2 Apprenticeship NI in Bricklaying
This Level 2 course is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in Bricklaying. Bricklayers build and repair walls, chimney stacks, tunnel linings and decorative stonework. They may also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects

This apprenticeship is deal for those who have attained their GCSEs and are employed in the field of bricklaying.
You will learn about building and repairing walls, chimney stacks, tunnel linings and decorative stonework. Working on site and learning at College will help you to gain the knowledge and experience you will need to become an accomplished bricklayer.
You will also work towards a Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities, designed to improve employability. These will include:
- Citizenship
- Working with others
- Problem solving and decision making
- Self management
- Work professionalism
- Digital literacy
This Level 2 apprenticeship is a 2 year programme and requires you to secure an employer prior to enrolment. Students will spend 3-4 days with the employer and 1 day in college.
Learners will be required to complete the qualification below:
OCN NI Level 2 Diploma in Wet Trades
You will need:
- An employer AND
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including at least Grade F in English and Maths, however to help you succeed on the course it is preferable if you have a minimum of Grade D in Maths and English.
Applicants will be required to attend for interview and undertake a skills test before entry to the course can be guaranteed.
Modules may include:
- Health and Safety in the Wet Trades Industry
- Understand Building Construction Materials and Methods
- Set Out and Build Masonry Cladding
- Constructing Solid Walling, Isolated and Attached Piers
- Preparing and Setting Out Masonry Structures
- Constructing Cavity Walling
