Course Overview

Computer Aided Design (CAD) is widely used in the engineering sector to communicate ideas and share design intent.  This introductory course will give you an insight into the use of SolidWorks (CAD Software) for creating 3D solid models and producing orthographic drawings. Topics covered in the course include:

  • 2D sketching for feature creation
  • 3D Features e.g. extrude, cut, revolve, sweep and loft.
  • Creating 3D assemblies
  • Producing orthographic drawings – parts and assemblies

To be proficient in the use of a computer.

You are new to CAD or have limited experience and would like to develop your skills to a good standard. 

To develop 3D solid models of parts and assemblies prior to generation of orthographic drawings.

The hands-on practical approach to learning.  Our expert staff will guide you through the use of CAD whilst creating a mini project. 

There are a wide range of engineering programmes available within the school. Courses are subject to entry requirements.
