Homemade Beef Burgers

By making small changes to the ingredients we use, we can eat better without compromising on flavour and enjoyment! These burgers are quick and easy to make for a takeaway meal at home!

Homemade Beef Burgers

- ½ tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
- 1 x 500g pack British Beef Steak Mince 15% fat
- 1 tsp mixed dried herbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and Pepper

Heat the olive oil in a frying pan, add the onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened and starting to turn golden. Set aside.

In a bowl, combine the beef mince with the herbs and the egg. Season with salt and pepper, add the onions and mix well. Using your hands, shape into 4 patties.

Cook the burgers on the preheated griddle for 5-6 minutes on each side. While the second side is cooking, lay your cheese on top to melt slightly (if using).

Serve burger in bun with toppings of your choice.

Bread rolls of your choice- try a whole meal option to increase your fibre intake and keep you feeling satisfied for longer! Get the veggies in-add toppings such as lettuce, tomato and red onion. Like a cheeseburger? Why not try a slice of Mozzarella or a small amount of grated Parmesan as healthier cheese options? Put down the ketchup! There are so many ways to add flavour to your burger without the added sugar-try adding pesto, mustard, salsa, guacamole or hummus.
