Once again SERC has prepared individuals to thrive in the workplace by up-skilling local businesses with nationally recognised leadership and management qualifications.
Magellan Aerospace (UK) Ltd, a leading manufacturer of aerospace structural components and assemblies, has benefitted from specialist Leadership and Management training, a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) endorsed course, to help raise the skill base of their management team.
At a ceremony which took place at the company’s Greyabbey location, SERC celebrated the achievement of Level 3 and level 5 management qualifications by over 10 staff. The certificates were presented by SERCs Leadership and Management Consultant Jenny McConnell.
Magellan Aerospace HR Advisor Ryan McKernon said: “Recognising the importance of exceptional leadership skills, and building on existing skills, the training was delivered to enhance skills and ensure we remain competitive in an ever-changing environment. Magellan is committed to continual investment in our workforce and we are thrilled to avail of the advanced training opportunity offered by SERC.
“As an integrated supplier to the global aerospace industry we pride ourselves in keeping our staff up to date with the latest skills and we are confident the course will have a direct impact on the productivity and competitiveness of the company in the global marketplace.”
James Currie Head of School for Business, Hospitality and Tourism at SERC explains: “I commend the investment in skills development of Magellan Aerospace which clearly demonstrates a keenness to further develop the success of the company. Companies like Magellan demand specialist training programmes to meet their specific needs and we have the expertise, equipment and flexibility to deliver this. We understand how hard it is for businesses to upskill employees. That's why we make it as easy as possible for participants by working with them to minimise the impact of releasing staff. It's a real partnership."
The County Down based company have worked with SERC for over ten years to develop a specialist training programme designed to up-skill and professionalise their workforce. SERC also manage the Magellan Academy which has been designed to help Magellan “grow their own” skilled workforce through the development of a bespoke curriculum combining full time study, day release and on the job training, with continual assessment through quality gateways.
