Engineering Fabrication and Welding Training Scheme

Looking for a career in Engineering?

Start your career as an Engineering Fabrication and Welding Trainee and work within a highly skilled and thriving industry. You could earn up to £25,000 per year when fully qualified.

In response to the needs of industry for highly trained, motivated and professional engineers, SERC are seeking to recruit fabrication and welding trainees under the Level 2 Skills for Work (SfW) programme. 

The scheme will provide candidates the opportunity to learn and develop welding and fabrication techniques through expert lecturer tuition at our new modern training facility at CITB Nutts Corner. 

While on the programme SERC will work with employers to secure placement opportunities for trainees leading to possible employment as an Apprentice. The Scheme will run for up two years during which you will receive £40 per week training allowance and travel expenses to/from College or placement.  On successful completion of the programme trainees can progress onto Level 3 Skills for Work courses or Apprenticeship programmes.

On completion of the scheme you will have the skills and knowledge required for a career in the Engineering Fabrication and Welding sector.

Entry Requirements

  • Aged 16-17 on enrolment
  • 5 GCSEs grades A*-F or equivalent
  • Interested in a career in the Engineering industry
  • Ability to travel to SERC facility at CITB Nutts Corner
