Course Overview
This Shopify website optimization workshop is designed to empower you with the skills and knowledge needed to modify your shopify website’s theme, create stunning web pages and unleash your creativity.
We will start off by exploring the fundamental design aspects of a website and will delve into best practices for creating visual appealing and user-friendly websites. You will learn about the essential pages that all websites should have and how to use wireframes to help you plan and visualise these.
In the Shopify platform we will explore the theme settings and page builder and learn how to modify the websites design. We will cover the various options available in the themes settings and look at how to customise settings such as setting up site colours and fonts sets to transform the look of the website. We will also use the page builder tool to learn how to edit the layout and design of a webpage using sections & blocks.
This workshop will also cover how to create new pages & blog posts using custom templates, and how to structure your navigation menu for the best user experience.
Note: This workshop only focuses on the design aspects of a Shopify website and not the ecommerce functionality. Please contact the Business Services team for details on other support that we offer in this area.

You currently have an existing Shopify website and want to have more control over the design of your pages.
If you want to switch to a new theme, redesign the look of a page, change the colours, or add some new pages or blog posts, then this workshop is perfect for you and will teach you all the necessary skills to help you implement these changes.

This workshop combines practical demonstrations, interactive exercises, and collaborative discussions to provide you with a hands-on learning experience. You can log in to your Shopify account to follow along while we learn how to use the Shopify platform to customise your website design, enabling you to implement the concepts covered in the course directly on your own website.
The workshop also includes a variety of learning resources that you can download and access at any time to continue to build your skills even after the workshop has ended.
Resources include PowerPoints, User guides, Exercises, Recorded demonstrations.

There is a optional 1 hour one-to-one session with your tutor available, as an add-on to this workshop. This will come at an additional cost, looking specifically at your own Shopify Website and how to apply aspects learnt through the workshop.

The workshops will run online, in order for you to be able to participate fully, you will need:
- An existing Shopify website
- A laptop or desktop computer
- A working microphone and speakers
- A reliable internet connection
