Course Overview

With this 2 year course you will achieve all the Level 2 outcomes required to match the occupational framework as an introduction to the plumbing industry.

Modules covered may include:

  • Copper pipe work
  • Practical plumbing
  • Iron pipe work
  • Hot and cold water systems
  • Central heating installations
  • Sheet lead roof work

 

You will also have the opportunity to participate in the Young Enterprise NI programme which will develop your employability skills and help you explore the idea of starting your own business.

 
 
 
Entry Requirements
A minimum of 4 GCSEs including at least a grade D in Maths and grade D in English.
 

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English or Maths.  You will also be required to complete Essential Skill in Information Technology.

You need to be 16 or over by the end of June but no older than 18.

 
Where will it take me?
The Programme led Apprenticeship course will provide you with the skills and qualifications necessary to move on to the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Plumbing.  
 
At any point during this course you can move to the Level 2 Apprenticeship if you become employed and have the relevant entry requirements.
 
This will then take you to the Level 3 Plumbing programme which will make you a fully trained technician/engineer within the plumbing industry.
 
 
How will it make me more employable?
Successful completion of the course shall lead to the Level 3 Plumbing programme.
 
How will I be assessed and given feedback?
You will be assessed through practical and theoretical tests.
