Level 3 National Extended Diploma in IT - IT Professional
This 2-year programme is the equivalent to 3 A levels.
This useful and popular Information Technology course has a practical focus and will prepare you for employment in the IT industry or for further study, including progression onto the Higher Education programmes such as our own University of Ulster linked Foundation Degree or a Higher National Diploma.

Modules studied in year 1 include:

- Using Social Media in Business
- Website Development
- Data Modelling
Upon successful completion you will progress on to year 2 of the programme where you will study further modules such as:
- The Internet of Things,
- Mobile Apps Development
- Cyber Security and Incident Management
- Computer Games Development
- Cloud Storage and Collaboration Tools.
In addition to the above units you will also work towards a Professional/ Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities, designed to improve employability within the IT sector.
You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English .
As a student you will typically be in class for a minimum of 17.5 hours per week
There is one formal, external examination (written paper) in this course and three of the units are assessed by controlled assessment. Other units are assessed continuously throughout the two years using assignments and other practical assessment methods. At the end of two years all unit grades are totalled to give an overall grade for the qualification. If successful you can achieve any grade between D*D*D*, three distinction stars, and PPP, three passes.
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C or above (including Maths at Grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills Numeracy) and a minimum grade D in English.
Alternatively, Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in IT (Merit) with Level 2 Essential Skills in Numeracy and Literacy.
An interview is required before enrolling on the programme and there will be a short entry test on the day of enrolment to ensure that you are ready for the course.

Pearson BTEC HND in Computing
The purpose of the BTEC Higher Nationals in Computing is to enable students to develop industry current skills, to ensure that the future needs of the rapidly evolving IT sector are fully met. This qualification will provide you with knowledge and practical experience in programming, networking, database design and development as well as other core skills required for employment within the computing industry.
Ulster University Foundation Degree in Computing
The Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Computing aims to develop industry current skills to ensure that the future needs of the IT sector are fully met. This qualification will provide you with knowledge and practical experience in programming, networking, database design and development as well as other core skills required for employment within the computing industry.
Level 2 Technical Diploma in IT
This is a one year full time programme providing students with a broad foundation in IT aimed at GCSE Level.
This course will teach you the fundamentals of 3D designing and animations. Students will get to learn the Maya basics of Skinning, Lighting and Rendering, and Utility Nodes, Texturing and Texture Mapping, Adobe Photoshop Basics, Tiling and Layering Textures, Block Texturing a Non-Organic Object and Texture Distressing.
