Course Overview

This qualification covers specific skills necessary to work as a barber in the mens/barber hairdressing industry.

The qualification builds on existing knowledge and understanding of barbering and develops more detailed and enhanced technical skills necessary for employment.

Your skills and techniques will be assessed in a real working environment.

Units will include:

Provide client consultation services
Creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques
Design and create a range of facial hair shapes
Provide shaving services
Colour and lighten men’s hair
Design and create patterns in hair

Ideal If:

You want to further your skills within barbering and work in the barbering industry or start your own business.

You'll Learn:

How to carryout a shave, creating patterns in the hair and creatively cutting hair as well as developing consultation skills.

You'll Love:

Developing and enhancing your creative barbering skills and the hands-on approach to the course as well as gaining experience within the college salon Revive and specialist skills delivered by professional barbers.

You'll Progress:

Successful completion will allow you to progress onto employment or further study of gaining NVQ level 3 Diploma in hairdressing.

You'll Need:

Level 2 Diploma Barbering

This course will be timetabled over 18.5 hours per week ie - 15 hours of vocational classes and 3.5 hours per week Essential skills English and Maths if required.

Students who do not have at least a grade C in Maths and English will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy.

Students will be required to provide their own materials and equipment eg kit and uniform. There will be an extra cost for these which will be discussed with you by the tutor.

This course will require an interview and skills tests.
