Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism (OG)

SERC is excited to present the newly launched Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism, designed to give students the knowledge and skills that are required to work in the travel and tourism industry, delivered over 2 years.

Course Overview

This course is equivalent to 2 A Levels. The course consists of 4 core units and 8 specialist units which enable you to study particular areas in depth. Core units include: Investigating Travel and Tourism, The Business of Travel and Tourism, Customer Service and UK as a Destination.  Specialist units include: Marketing Travel and Tourism Products and Services, Preparing for Employment in the Travel and Tourism Industry, Long Haul Travel Destinations, Roles and Responsibilities of Holiday Representatives, Tour Operations, Tourism in Rural Areas, Researching Current Issues and European Destinations  

You will also work towards a Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities, designed to improve your employability. You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy or ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English or Maths or Computing. 

Class learning will be supplemented with the use of guest speakers and visits to local travel, tourism and hospitality providers.

You'll Progress:
Onto year 2 of the programme and complete units such as Marketing, Tourism in Rural Areas and Researching Current Issues. Employment opportunities in Travel and Tourism once you have completed the two-year course include human resources, event organisation, cruise sector, marketing, ticketing, tour operation or as a travel agent.
You'll Need:
BTEC Level 2 Diploma or 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above or equivalent e.g. Essential Skills is desirable.
