Course Overview

This course has been designed to allow learners to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations. This qualification (or similar) maybe required for operatives wishing to join some Electrical Registration Bodies, Competent Person Schemes or the Microgeneration Scheme.

  • This qualification has been updated to cover the additional criteria in Amendment 2 (2022) of BS7671:2018 and is designed to promote Safety and Competence within the Electrotechnical Sector.

The objective of this qualification is for learners to demonstrate they know the scope, object and fundamental principles of BS7671, along with the definitions used within BS7671, how to assess the general characteristics of electrical installations and the requirements of protection for safety of electrical installations.

Assessment is 60 question (120 minutes) on-line assessment only.

You are working within the electrical or a related industry, and want to update occupational competence or/and continue your professional development.

The latest Edition of and Requirements of BS7671: 2018 – 2nd Amendment, The definitions used within BS7671, how to assess the general characteristics of electrical installations, the requirements of protection for safety of electrical installations, the requirements for selection and erection of equipment for electrical installations, the requirements of inspection and testing of electrical installations, and the requirements of special installations and locations as identified in BS7671.

There are clear pathways to electrical environmental qualifications from this course such as Electric Vehicle Charging, EESS Electrical Energy Storage Systems and Solar PV.

A copy of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. There are no formal pre-requisites to this qualification, but it is recommended that learners should have suitable knowledge of electrical theory and ideally be working within the electrical industry.
