Course Overview

Construction plant mechanics make sure that plant equipment on construction sites, like diggers and dumper trucks, is maintained and working safely.

This 2 year course will equip you with the skills needed to work in the construction machinery industry.

Subjects studied will include:   

 • Fitting engines
 • Brakes steering
 • Wheels and tyres
 • Tracks and running gear
 • Plant electrics
 • Welding

You are employed and want to pursue a career in the construction machinery industry.

How to fit engines, brakes steering, wheels and tyres. You’ll also learn about plant electrics and welding.

The industry standard workshops and getting practical experience.

Successful completion of this programme will enable you to progress to employment in the construction machinery industry or further study on higher education courses.

An employer and a Level 2 qualification in Plant Maintenance.
