Course Overview
This is a knowledge-only qualification, therefore work placement is not mandatory.

1. Understand how to provide a safe and healthy environment for babies and young children

2. Understand common childhood illnesses

3. Understand health emergencies and specific health conditions in an early years setting

You work with young children.

How to prevent infection; how to recognise when children are ill; how to deal with health incidents and basic first aid.

Being taught by specialists and basic skills.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: • Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges • Level 2 Certificate Introducing Caring for Children and Young People • Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning • Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare • Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Early Years Education and Care
