Job Club - Employability And Personal Development
This programme is for students with moderate to severe special educational needs and aims to assist in providing students with the skills that are required to support them in employment and to improve and develop their own personal skills. This course helps you to improve your own personal and employability skills and gives you the opportunity to obtain work experience.
This programme provides students with the confidence and skills to gain employment or complete a work placement.
This course is available in Newtownards, Downpatrick and Lisburn campuses. This course will involve working towards a City and Guilds qualification in Employability and Personal Development.
There is an attendance commitment of 18 hours per week for this course.
Modules may include:
- Candidate Project
- Developing Personal Confidence
- Drug & Alcohol Awareness
- Enterprise Activity
- Introduction to ICT
- Plan and Make a Journey
In addition, students will work towards a work placement supported by Mencap or Stepping Stones NI. Students may also get the opportunity to sample vocational areas such as Catering or Ceramics.
Confirmation of a place on the course cannot be made until Special Educational Needs evidence is provided.
On provision of appropriate evidence and completion of a taster session, more details regarding student timetables and confirmation of a place on the programme will be forwarded to parents/guardians. This should be available before the end of the June, however, timetables are subject to change up to the start of September.

to provide evidence that you have a Special Educational Need to confirm a place on this course. All applicants will be provided with a form to be completed prior to the start of the course. This form will require a signature from either a G.P., Social Worker, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, School or Mencap Representative along with a letter regarding the applicant's Special Educational Need.
If you have just completed your GCSEs Further Education is most likely the option for you. FE covers qualifications from entry to higher level qualifications such as Awards, Certificates, Diplomas, NVQ, BTEC and Apprenticeships.Explore Further Education
This is a 12-week programme, run in conjunction with the Prince's Trust for young people who have experienced barriers to employment and education.
Skills For Your Life (Level 1)
This course is for students who seek a new opportunity after their compulsory education.
Skills for Work 104 Weeks (Level 1) - Retail
This course will provide good grounding if you wish to secure employment within a retail environment.
