IT and Telecoms Professional - Skills for Work (Level 2)


This course will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge essential to work with the IT Industry. The course will enable you to qualify for a level 2 OCR Technical Diploma in IT together with a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Professional Competence.

Course Overview

This two-year course will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge essential to work with the IT Industry. The course will enable you to qualify for a level 2 OCR Technical Diploma in IT together with a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Professional Competence.

Subjects studied will depend on the work placement and may include:

IT Security

Website Development

Installing Computer Hardware

Communicating in the IT Industry

Health and Safety

Testing ICT Systems

Data Base Software

You will also study Essential Skills in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT unless exempt through GCSE grades C or above in Maths, English and ICT respectively.  

Placements are an integral part of this programme where you will gain valuable work experience.  Work placements will be a minimum of 18 hours per week.

You will spend 2 days a week in college and 3 days on placement or on projects.
