Course Overview

This course is a beginner’s guide to using computers. This course will cover all the basics of computer hardware and software and how to utilise a PC to access the internet.  You will also gain an appreciation of commonly used software e.g. Office for everyday tasks such as word processing. This course aims to provide you with a working knowledge of computers and what to look for when buying a new computer.  The course will cover the following topics:

  • The basic parts of a computer and how to connect them.
  • Basic navigation and use of Microsoft Windows.
  • How to access and browse the internet.
  • Basic overview of common applications e.g. Office
  • What to look for when buying a PC for home.  

There is no formal assessment for this course.
