Community Placements

Students enrolled on Training for Success programmes spend time in the classroom and in work placements in order to develop their skills. From time to time some of our students may not have secured a workplace. This is where you may be able to assist.

What do we mean by a Placement?

A student placement is where our students would spend time in a workplace carrying out duties or tasks with an emphasis on the learning aspects of the experience. Typically, students would be in placement at least one day or more per week. If a student is placed in a community setting there is no cost to the community group or organisation.

Advantages of Community Placements

A SERC-Community Partnership can be of mutual benefit to both parties. Our student trainees get a chance to put the skills that they have learnt into the classroom into practice and gain much needed industry experience while you get a task or job completed that you may not otherwise may not have been able to do.

Areas of work SERC may be able to help with:
  • Retail
  • Catering
  • Construction
  • Joinery
  • Business Administration
  • And many more...
