Students Celebrate Propertymark Qualifications

Two local estate agents have been celebrating their success in Propertymark qualifications which they completed at SERC.  

Janice Simpson, lecturer in the School of Business, Health & Hospitality at SERC said, “We are delighted to see John Grant and Christine Little, both from Grant Estate Agents, and part of the first cohort to complete this new sought-after qualification, accredited by Propertymark. The course, delivered online by SERC, has been developed for those who want to demonstrate leadership capability in residential sales, lettings, commercial and auction businesses."

She added, “With changes imminent to the regulation of property agents, it is vitally important that anyone working in the industry is prepared with at least a relevant Level 3 qualification - the highest level of qualification currently offered from Propertymark, equivalent to a Higher National Certificate.”

John Grant, Managing Director, Grant Estate Agents said, “Grant Estate Agents was founded on professionalism and integrity and staff training is integral to our ethos. All our team have obtained at least Level 3 Certificate in Property Agency (Sales) Propertymark qualifications at SERC, so when the Level 4 Certificate in Property Agency Management was released, it was a natural progression.  

“Even after 22 years of selling residential property in the Ards and North Down area, I firmly believe that structured, specialised training adds an additional level of knowledge and professionalism which benefits our customers.”  

John continued, “Christine Little joined the company in early 2023 and has aspirations to manage an estate agency in the future.   Both myself and Christine – the older and the younger generation - completed the qualification together for the benefit of our clients, our company and our industry."      

John concluded, “You’re never too old or too young to learn and, even if the course covers some familiar material for an experienced company director, there’s always a benefit in refreshing your knowledge and always new things to learn.”
