Worklink - Retail

This course provides an introduction to Retail for those who are new to the Retail sector and wish to gain a basic understanding of the Retail workplace and the roles within it.

Course Overview

This qualification is competence based and students are required to have a work placement in a Retail setting for assessment to take place.

Students are required attend class for one day per week.

Modules that may be covered include:

  • Working effectively in a retail team
  • Maintaining security and health and safety
  • Stock replenishme
  • Moving and Handling Stock
  • Working as part of a Team to enhance students’ preparation for work skills.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, however, you must be under 22 years if you have a disability or under 24 years if you are a person in care.

Where will it take me?


Completion of the level 1 qualification can lead to progression onto the college led apprenticeship which can offer opportunities for careers within the retail sector in areas such as:

  • Customer service
    Sales Assistant


This apprenticeship includes completion of a Level 2 Retail Skills qualification and a Level 2 Retail Knowledge qualification.

How will it make me more employable?
This course will make you more employable with the transferable skills which you will achieve on studying the Retail programme. As you study a broad range of units this enables you to offer your knowledge and expertise in many areas which employers would be looking for.
How will I be assessed and given feedback?
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods which include work based observation and a portfolio of evidence
