Worklink - Hospitality
This course provides an introduction to the catering and hospitality industry. It aims to give a basic training in food preparation and cooking
The course has been designed to enable you to learn a range of catering skills, both practical and theoretical. You will gain City & Guilds NVQ Level 1 qualification in Hospitality Services
The course can last up to three years and you will attend class one day per week. There is a combination of classroom teaching and practical work placements
Modules you will study may include:
Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
Work effectively as part of a hospitality team
Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food
Prepare and cook fish
Prepare and cook meat and poultry
Package food for delivery
Prepare and finish simple salad and fruit dishes
Prepare hot and cold sandwiches
Prepare and cook pasta
Prepare and cook rice
Prepare and cook eggs
Prepare and cook pulses
Prepare and cook vegetable protein
Prepare and cook simple bread and dough products
Prepare and cook grain
You will gain additional City and Guilds qualifications in Employability and Personal and Social Skills.
You will also be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.

Catering - Apprenticeship (Level 2)
This course aims to provide realistic training in food preparation for the industry at a basic level.
Catering - Apprenticeship NI (Level 3)
This course is aimed at those who have achieved a Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Professional Cookery
Ulster University Foundation Degree In Tourism, Hospitality and Events
