Worklink - Construction Skills

This is a Level 1 Construction Skills programme for those with mild learning difficulties which is run by our Training Organisation.

Course Overview

This is a Level 1 Construction Skills programme for those with mild learning difficulties which is run by our Training Organisation.

This course can last up to three years and is aimed at improving your Literacy and Numeracy Skills whilst at the same time providing you with a Level 1 vocational qualification in Construction Skills.

You will gain qualifications in Bricklaying as well as City & Guilds qualifications in Employability, Personal & Social Skills and Essential Skills (Numeracy, Literacy and ICT).

You will be required to attend for 21 hours per week.

Modules may include:

  • Employability, Personal Development and Essential Skills
  • Technical and practical construction skills (Carpentry and joinery, Brickwork, Plastering, Painting)
  • Projects/Placement

Whilst on the programme you will be paid £40 per week and you will have up to 3 years to complete the programme.
Entry Requirements
This course is designed for individuals with mild learning needs and no formal entry qualifications are required. However, you will be required to demonstrate that you have the ability and motivation to succeed at Level 1.
Where will it take me?
On completion of this course you may progress to employment or onto a Level 2 vocational programme, or it could lead to a job in construction.
How will it make me more employable?
This course will not only provide you with a Level 1 vocational qualification but will also allow you to improve your Literacy, Numeracy and ICT skills.  All of which improve your chances of obtaining employment.
How will I be assessed and given feedback?
For the most part assessment is via portfolios of work and examinations.
