Skills for Work 104 Weeks (Level 1) - Construction Skills

This course provides an introduction to Construction Skills for anyone interested in taking the first step to a career within the Construction Sector.

Course Overview

This course provides an introduction to Construction Skills for anyone interested in taking the first step to a career within the Construction Sector.

You will spend your time in college developing your skills and practical abilities within our state of the art workshops. You will be required to attend for 21 hours per week.

Topics may include:

  • Developing Carpentry and Joinery Skills
  • Developing Brickwork Skills
  • Developing Plastering Skills
  • Introducing Plumbing Skills
  • Developing Motor Skills
  • Developing Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Skills
  • Introducing Electrical Skills
Entry Requirements

A keen interest in the construction industry and the ability to work as part of a team.

You will also be required to have achieved at least one formal qualification at Level 1.

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English, Maths or ICT. You will have the opportunity to complete an appropriate IT qualification.

This is an ideal starting point for training if you have an interest in Construction.
How will it make me more employable?
Candidates will achieve qualifications in Employability and Personal Development which will equip them with the skills and knowledge to gain employment.
How will I be assessed and given feedback?
Assessments will be done through portfolio work.
