Course Overview

This course will provide you with the fundamentals to work in the retail industry.

Participants must achieve a competency based qualifications and knowledge and skills based qualifications in the Level 2 Certificate in Retail Skills (OCR) and the Level 2 Certificate in Retail Knowledge (OCR).

Students must also complete mandatory Essential Skills, Level 1 Number and Level 1 Communication.

Students are required to attend their vocational class two days per week.  Employability forms part of the overall framework

Modules may include:

How to work effectively in a Retail Team

How to maintain health and safety and security within Retail

Stock Replenishment

Customer Service

Receiving and storing Goods. 


Entry Requirements

5 GCSE’s between grades D to G or equivalent.

There will also be a required interview.

Where will it take me?

Completion of the college led apprenticeship can offer opportunities for careers within the retail sector in areas such as:
Customer service
Visual merchandising
Sales Assistant
Retail management
Stock management

Students have the opportunity to progress onto relevant Level 3 qualifications.

How will it make me more employable?
This course will make you more employable with the transferable skills which you will achieve on studying the Retail programme. As you study a broad range of units this enables you to offer your knowledge and expertise in many areas which employers would be looking for.
How will I be assessed and given feedback?
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods which include formative assessments, time constrained activities and presentations (individual/group work).
 
Accreditation of prior learning is a process by which you may be awarded credits for learning that they have gained in the past and which is relevant to the course to which you have applied. It may also help you gain entry to a programme if you do not have the required entry qualifications. This may be certificated or experiential learning. Please feel free to ask for additional information.
