Course Overview
You will achieve all the Level 3 outcomes required to match the occupational framework.
 
This 2 year course consists of advanced practical tasks to include installation and testing of oil or gas systems, unvented hot water cylinders, heating controls and fault diagnosis.
 
Subjects studied will include:
  • Servicing complex domestic plumbing systems
  • Planning complex domestic plumbing systems
  • Installing domestic oil heating systems
  • Complex cold water systems
  • Domestic gas supply systems
  • Renewable technologies
  • System design
  • Biomass
  • Solar hot water
  • Flue gas analysing
 
 
Entry Requirements

You must be employed within the Plumbing industry and have completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship qualification in Plumbing.

 

 
Where will it take me?
On completion of this course you will be a fully qualified plumber and can study on a part-time basis while you work.
 
Higher Education part time courses are available in construction at the College.  
 
As an Action Renewables Academy, the College offers training in sustainable energy systems such as biomass and ground source heat pumps to help you deal with new developments in the industry.
 
How will it make me more employable?
You must be employed by a plumbing contractor, which will provide valuable on site experience – 4 days per week.
 
How will I be assessed and given feedback?
You will be assessed through practical and theory assessments.  You will also be expected to build a portfolio of evidence and will be assessed in the workplace.
