Course Overview

This course is equivalent to 1 GCE A Level and gives you the opportunity to study on an engaging programme comprised of both practical and academic elements. It is also a suitable qualification for those wishing to change career or move into a particular area of employment following a career break. The course will encourage you to develop your skills as a performer and as a professional and is assessed through performances, written coursework and written external examinations. 

Modules studied will include:

Performing to an Audience

Theatre for Children

Developing Voice for the Actor

Jazz Dance

Film and TV Acting

Auditions for Actors

 

You will also work towards a Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities, designed to improve your employability. 

Entry Requirements

You must have a good general educational background.

4 GCSE passes at grade A-C.   

The application process will involve an interview, written task and a workshop audition. The outcomes of which, along with the required grades, will determine your successful entry to this programme. 

Please note that if the course is oversubscribed additional criteria will be applied.

This course aims to provide you with the basic skills necessary for a wide range of performance disciplines and enables you to develop your professional acumen.  This course has been designed to prepare students for progression to further study or careers in the performing arts.

How will I be assessed and given feedback?
You will be assessed throughout the year on: performances, individual and group work, research and evaluations.  Each unit will have a number of assignments that will be graded at distinction, merit and pass level.
