Course Overview

In summary, the qualification will enable candidates to:

 

  • Accurately process/administer payroll under Real Time Information (RTI) regulations using computer based skills

     

  • Develop their understanding of more advanced aspects of day-to-day payroll procedures and how to apply them to a computerised system (to include monthly and year end routines and treatment of employee expenses and benefits).

     

  • Develop skills in dealing with the NIC for directors and the information required by the commercial software to calculate NIC for a director.

     

  • Develop an understanding of the processing of redundancy and further termination payments.

     

  • Develop further skills to perform routine and some non-routine payroll tasks.

 

  • Reconciling the payroll at period ends using both manual and computerised techniques

     

  • Understand the importance of accuracy, security and statutory responsibilities in performing any payroll task


Entry Requirements

It is recommended that before commencing the IAB Level 3 Certificate in Computerised Payroll Administration prospective students have already achieved the IAB Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Payroll.  Alternatively, candidates who can demonstrate comparable prior knowledge and skills acquired through work experience in computerised payroll will also be considered. 


Where will it take me?

The IAB Level 3 Certificate in Computerised Payroll Administration qualification aims to provide learners with a comprehensive range of knowledge and the practical skills that they will be able to use as a senior payroll processor or payroll administrator for a variety of businesses in the use of commercially available payroll software.


How will it make me more employable?
This is a widely recognised qualification from a long established professional body, which employers seek.  The examination tests proficiency in widely used commercial payroll software – Sage 50 Payroll
How will I be assessed and given feedback?

The Level 3 Certificate will be assessed through an externally set and marked examination of 2 hours 30 minutes, consisting of a series of practical tasks and theoretical tasks. 

 

There is an additional classroom based knowledge test.

 

Please note that even though this course is run in the evening exams may be held during the day.
