Level 3 Certificate for Classroom Assistants

This course is suitable if you wish to work as a classroom assistant in a school setting.

Course Overview
Areas covered/modules:
Six Mandatory units of the qualification
Unit 1: Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults.
Unit 2: Schools as organisations
Unit 3: Understand how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people.
Unit 4: Support learning activities
Unit 5: Support assessment for learning
Unit 6: Understand child and young person development

Access NI clearance will need to be processed for each student at a cost of £33 (Which can be done through the College)

All candidates must have their Access NI completed and a placement secured before commencing the programme.  (If there is anything in the check that stops you from working with children the place will be forfeited).

Entry Requirements

Prior to enrolment, applicants will be required to:

  • Have secured a work placement in a suitable school setting voluntary or employed capacity, a minimum of 6 hours per week is required
  • An interview is required before enrolment with the course tutor.  Applicants should bring evidence of the above essential criteria to interview.
  • Hold a current Access NI certificate
  • Be over the age of 21

Each student is required to complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate achievement of all learning outcomes associated with each unit.
