This 1 year course is the equivalent to 3 AS levels and leads onto the 1 year Extended Diploma (top-up) (students who successfully complete this course will automatically be rolled over onto the extended Diploma and do not need to apply online)
Year One establishes a broad art and design base from which the specialism of Graphic Design is developed.
Pathways might include: Illustration, Communication design and Promotional Design

- Corporate Identity and Branding
- Digital Photography
- Using Digital Technology in Graphic Design

- Design for advertising

- Art and Design in Context
- How Artists and Designers use 2D materials, processes and Techniques.
In Year One you learn skills in all the essential areas and in year Two you will be offered arrange of pathway options from a range of specialist and professional units.
You will also exhibit your work as part of the course alongside other courses within the creative department.
You will also work towards a Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities, designed to improve your employability.
You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy or ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English or Maths or Computing.
