Level 3 90-credit Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic)

This 1 year course is the equivalent to 3 AS levels. The course combines theoretical and practical units.

Course Overview
This 1 year course is the equivalent to 3 AS levels. The course combines theoretical and practical electrical/ electronic engineering units . Units studies include:
  • Health & Safety in the Engineering Workplace
  • Selecting and Using Programmable Controllers
  • Electrical & Electronic Principles
  • Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
  • Procedural Programming
  • Electronic Circuit Design & Manufacture
  • Principles & Applications of Electronic Devices & Circuits
  • Construction & Application of Digital Systems
  • Electronic Fault Finding

You will also work towards a Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities, designed to improve employability. You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English or ICT. You will attend college a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Entry Requirements
You will require 1 of the following:
5 GCSE's grade C or above which must include Maths and at least a Grade D in English


Level 2 Diploma in Engineering

Where will it take me?
Successful completion of this course will lead directly onto further study on the 1 year Extended Diploma (top-up), which upon completion will be the equivalent to 3 A Levels.
Alternatively you may progress on to employment within the Robotics Engineering sector.
