Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in Engineering (General Engineering)

This course will help you to develop engineering skills and techniques transferable to future employment in the engineering industry.

Course Overview

This 1 year course is equivalent to 3 AS Levels. This course will help you to develop engineering skills and techniques transferable to future employment in the engineering industry

Modules may include:

 
  • Health & Safety in the Engineering Workplace
  • Mechanical Principles & Applications
  • Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
  • Principles & Applications of Electronic Devices & Circuits
  • Computer Aided Drafting
  • Engineering Secondary & Finishing Techniques
  • Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials
  • Electronic Circuit Design and Construction
  • Selecting and Using Programmable Controllers

 

You will also work towards a Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities, designed to improve employability. You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English or Maths or ICT. You will attend college a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Entry Requirements
You will require 1 of the following:
 

5 GCSE's grade C or above which must include Maths and at least a Grade D in English.

Level 2 Course in Engineering (Merit or above) plus Level 2 Essential Skills

Where will it take me?
Successful completion of this course will lead directly onto further study on the 1 year Extended Diploma (top-up), which upon completion will be the equivalent to 3 A Levels.
 
Alternatively you may progress onto employment within the engineering sector.

How will I be assessed and given feedback?
Assessment for this programme is carried out on a continuous basis using a combination of written assignments and practical assessments.
