Course Overview

This Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture is a 2 year programme which will prepare you for working in the Horticulture industry.   Students will participate in work experience in the college gardens, as well as with local employers.

The delivery hours are at least 12 hours a week for this course.

FIRST YEAR MODULES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Understand the Principles of Plant Science

    Understand the Principles of Soil Science

    Establish and Maintain Plants Outdoors

    Participate in Propagation Techniques

You will be required to complete Essential Skills Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE Grade C or above in these subjects.

Entry Requirements
You must have achieved 4 GCSEs a grades D-G
Where will it take me?
Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress onto a Level 3 course or alternatively go to work directly into industry. Other Further & Higher Education progression routes may also be available.
How will it make me more employable?

This course can give you formal qualifications which will improve your job opportunities and employability skills, and the practical skills to prepare you for work in the horticulture industry. Work experience during this course will help you 'Get the Edge'.


How will I be assessed and given feedback?

Assessment will be through a series of written, online and practical tests. These will happen throughout the two years.

Travel to and from work experience.

A work uniform including safety shoes and waterproofs are required.
