Course Overview

This qualification is for learners who work or want to work as a patisserie chef or baker in the catering and hospitality sector.

This full-time programme of study will comprise of practical delivery in the college.  Delivery of the programme will be both in the training kitchen and the classroom.

This course is designed primarily for learners who wish to develop intermediate practical skills and knowledge in a wide range of bread, pastry, flour confectionery and cake decoration techniques to support progress to the next level of vocational learning.  It will allow candidates to learn, develop and practise the bakery skills required for employment and/or career progressions within the catering and hospitality sector.

Entry Requirements

This level will suit those with little or no experience in pastry and confectionery.

Applicants will require (2 GCSE at D Grade)

Where will it take me?
This qualification will allow learners to progress into employment as a pastry chef or to follow on to Level 3 qualifications in Patisserie & Confectionery.
How will it make me more employable?
With growing demand for pastry chefs in the catering industry, this qualification will give you a strong foundation in pastry and confectionery skills.
How will I be assessed and given feedback?
Candidates will be assessed via practical tests, written theory papers and written assignments, which will be externally verified.
