Level 2 Certificate in Barbering

This one year course covers basic traditional and commercial cutting techniques, cutting hair designs and cutting facial hair.

Course Overview

This qualification will develop you knowledge, understanding and skills to enable you to advise and consult with men on the type of hair cut and facial hair shaping the way they want, but just as importantly what is suitable for them. You will also learn how to work in a safe manner throughout the service protecting both yourself and your clients.

Modules may include:

  • Client consultation for hair services
  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Cut men's hair
  • Cut facial hair

Entry Requirements

This course is for learners aged 18 and over

A good standard of education

Preferable but not necessary:  Hairdressing and /or barbering experience/qualifications

You will be required to complete an interview and skills test.

Where will it take me?
You will be able to work in a barbering salon as a junior stylist.
How will it make me more employable?

This course is suitable if you are currently working or wish to work in a barber shop or a hairdressing salon and wish to gain a formal qualification.  Or for someone with no experience who wants to gain basic barbering skills to enable them to work in a barbers as a junior.

How will I be assessed and given feedback?
Observation, oral and written examinations
Additional Costs

The kit - scissors, combs, clippers, hairdryer, dolly head etc. is  required and costs approximately £150

A uniform is also required.
