Course Overview

The course is structured to enable you to understand the complete design process and develop ideas, from client brief to final presentation and show. You will work on monochromatic, harmonious and contrasting room schemes and produce sample boards to present.


Through practical projects students will achieve an understanding of the methods needed to develop scaled floor plans and initial sketches, through to detailed artists impressions and elevations and be competent in advising on colour schemes and how they work to create the right atmosphere, be able to select materials and fabrics and know how to complement with lighting and furniture and accessories.


Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this course just an interest in interior design. Students must provide their own materials – information on materials required will be provided by the tutor in first class. The materials required are minimal although samples of materials will need to be sourced. Students will require A2 cream or white mounting boards for sample boards.
Where will it take me?
You will be able to progress to the OCN NI Level 3 Award in Interior Design.
How will it make me more employable?
A part-time option offers you the best of both worlds – you can keep earning while you pursue your career goals.
How will I be assessed and given feedback?
Assessment is carried out on an ongoing basis and you will complete a portfolio of work during your course.
