Course Overview

This Level 3 Apprenticeship is aimed at those who are wanting to progress from Level 2 and who already have some experience in Land based technology. This course will develop your skills to move into a more senior, or management role in land based technology or higher level training.

IMI L3 Diploma in Work-based Land-based Engineering Operations

Some of the modules covered may include:

Mandatory Units

  • Land-based Engineering operations - Service and Repair Engines and Components
  • Understanding Health, Safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Service and Repair Hydraulic systems and components on Land-based equipment
  • Understanding Land-based Vehicle Chassis Systems

Optional Units

  • Understanding and Servicing Mechanical Power Transmission Systems
  • Undertake and review work related experience in the Land-based industries
  • Inspect and test land-based machinery and equipment

 

Entry Requirements

You must have secured employment (minimum of 21 hours, inclusive of college hours) within the industry.

You need to be 16 by the end of June and no older than 24.

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and Information Technology.

Where will it take me?
For some learners this qualification could prepare them for progression to further learning and training. This qualification can also help you to progress to a wide range of land-based engineering roles such as: Agricultural Engineering technician, Agricultural contractor or in the wider area of renewable energy, forestry, waste management and wind farms.
How will it make me more employable?
This course can give you formal qualifications which will improve your job opportunities and employability skills.
How will I be assessed and given feedback?
Assessment will be carried out through a series of practical and written examinations. Feedback will be given to you throughout the year from your course tutor. Learners are required to produce evidence of their occupational competence
