IT and Telecoms Professional - Apprenticeship NI (Level 3)


This two year course will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge essential to work with the IT Sector. The course will enable you to qualify for a level 3 OCR Technical Diploma in IT together with a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence.

Course Overview

This two year course will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge essential to work with the IT Sector. The course will enable you to qualify for a level 3 OCR Technical Diploma in IT together with a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence.

Subjects studied will depend on the work-placement and may include:

Software Installation and Upgrade

Testing ICT Systems

ICT System Operation

Database Software

Creating an Event-driven Computer Program

Develop Own Effectiveness and Professionalism

Health and Safety in ICT

Communication and Employability Skills for IT’

Interactive Media Authoring

Computer Systems

Website Production

You will also study Essential Skills to level 2 in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT unless exempt through GCSE grades C or above in Maths, English and ICT respectively.   Placements are an integral part of this programme where you will gain valuable work experience.   As a student you will spend a minimum of 12 hours a week in the College.

You'll Need:
To have secured suitable employment in the IT sector. 4 GCSE's at Grade C or above including ICT and preferably Grade C or above in English and Math. Entry is normally through completing the Level 2 Apprenticeship.
