Course Overview
Within this 2 year course you will have the opportunity of working with an employer in addition to attending the college.  You will achieve all the Level 3 outcomes required to match the occupational framework.
 
Modules studied may include:
 
  • Electrical inspection, testing and commissioning
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Maintaining electrical equipment
  • Rewiring electrical circuits
  • Testing electrical equipment and circuits
Entry Requirements
Candidates must have secured suitable employment within the electrical industry and have completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship programme.
 
You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English or Maths. You will also participate in enterprise and entrepreneurship programme to help you explore and develop ideas for starting your own business.
 
Where will it take me?
Successful completion of the course fully qualifies you as an electrical engineer and can lead to employment in companies specialising in security systems and alarms, closed circuit TV data transmission systems, environmental controls, building management systems or industrial electrical maintenance.
 
Further study on higher education courses can lead to a career in electrical engineering design or building services engineering.
 
How will it make me more employable?
Successful completion of the course shall lead employment in the engineering industry as a craftsman engineer or technician engineer.

How will I be assessed and given feedback?
You will be assessed through practical and theory assessments.  You will also be expected to build a portfolio of evidence and will be assessed in the workplace.
